The story behind design
In life we meet up with a lot of contradictions, some people don’t understand us and we don’t understand them. It is all happen because we are different with our own inner worlds of thoughts, emotions, experiences. And I felt it so clear and sharp when I joined my husband in UK, so often I was lost as if I’ve been in the alien world.
I start my research of this problem through the art prism and come out with these bags, they are a fusion of materials, techniques and styles that contradicts each other and the same time look neat. What makes them united is their intention to contribute and complement each other instead of standing out, they are ideal fusion of opponents.
Material: rich and gorgeous design chenille material on the opposite is a decor made of simple natural fiber - wool;
Style: vintage purse in deep purple colors and same time oriental motif that traditionally painted on white bamboo paper;
Pattern method: sculpting bas-relief and opponent is painting;
Purpose: it is functional item bag and same time it has a unique felted painting.
In many aspects these bags should be a bunch of not matching features despite of that they are united pieces. I think that art can show us the way of connection but not opposition; of contribution but not contradiction.
An interesting aspect of these bags is the creative process which goes into them. It’s called needle felting. While this ancient art has been around for centuries, it has recently enjoyed a resurgence of popularity. Needle felting is a long and meticulous process of blending colored wool fibers until they fuse - this causes them to harden, while retaining a pleasant textile feel. Due to the process it is almost impossible to repeat a pattern, so each creation is guaranteed to be different from the previous.
